How General Motors REALLY Treats Customers

Billy Kidwell is a 100% Service-Connected Disabled Vietnam Veteran supporting his family with his small disability check. He saw an ad for a new Chevy Truck for $18,000 however when he went to buy it by the time the GM Dealer had added in all the "extra" charges, such as for wheels, a trim package, bumbers, it came to OVER $26,000, about $8,000 MORE than the GM advertised price.

Kidwell went home figuring it was his fault, he let himself be swindled by crooks, and that was the last of it.

However, that night the headlights, and dash lights, went out on the truck while driving, almost causing a wreck with Kidwell and his family. The engine started knocking. Kidwell noticed a large pool of transmission fluid in his driveway. The truck ran out of gas halfway to the VA in Fort Myers, stranding the disabled Kidwell in the middle of no-where, yet thetruck's gas guage said the tank was almost full.

Kidwell started going to the dealer for the defects and after about six months the dealer told Kidwell that his truck was the last S-10 being made and that Chevy ran out of parts so it was "pieced" together. That it was a "Lemon" and the dealer wasn't going to waste time trying to fix the truck anymore DESPITE the truck being under warranty from GM.

General Motors ABSOLUTELY refused to honor their warrany even though the truck was only six months old!

It seems that GM has to approve repairs at dealerships, or something, and GM wasn't going to pay for the repairs anymore because too much was wrong.

Kidwell sent Registered Letters to GM CEO Richard Wagoner, and to each member of the GM Board of Directors, explaining how he had been sold a "Lemon" and how GM was refusing to honor it's warranty.

CEO Wagoner, and the GM Board of Directors had their office personel sign for the Registered Letters but NONE of them responded to a Disabled Veteran being cheated by GM, and the GM warranty not being honored.

Kidwell spent a lot of money calling the GM Headquarters in Detroit, and at last he got the secretary for the Board of Directors who informed him that each Board Member had personally received, and read Kidwell's letters.

Over the next couple of months Kidwell sent OVER 14 letters to GM CEO Wagoner, and EACH GM Board of Directors Member, and NOT ONE RESPONDED!

GM CEO Wagoner, and the GM Board of Directors, ABSOLUTELY refused to honor their warrany, and would not even give Kidwell a REASON they refused to honor the GM Warranty on the six (6) month old defective truck.

Kidwell called the GM Customer Service number in his warranty manual and a woman answered who said her name was Carolyn Westberg, and that she was employied by General Motors in Detroit as a "Customer Relationship Manager". She told Kidwell to send a Lemon Law Complaint by Registered Mail to her in Detroit.

Kidwell sent her the Lemon Law Complaint by Restered Mail as she instructed.

GM testified, UNDER OATH, at Kidwell's Lemon Law Hearing that Carolyn Westberg was a GM Employee, and presented letters from GM saying Carolyn Westberg was a GM Employee.

The Lemon Law Hearing found that Kidwell's Chevy Truck was a MAJOR LEMON with a knocking motor that did not run, a slipping, leaking transmission, doors that opened while driving, windows that leaked water into the truck, electrical shorts, and that the truck was not fit to drive.

However, Kidwell was denied Lemon Law Relief due to a techinicality where a GM Letter claimed that Kidwell did not send his Lemon Law Complaint Form by Registered Mail, as required by Florida Law.

Kidwell filed a Federal Lawsuit in the U.S. District Court at Fort Myers Florida where General Motors Attorneys now ADMIT that GM committed FRAUD on the Lemon Law Process when they testified, UNDER OATH, that Carolyn Westberg was a GM Employee.

GM had kept Kidwell from getting his money back by committing perjury, and creating fake letters saying Carolyn Westberg was a GM Employee.

Pursuant to Florida Law a Sitel Corporation Employee has NO RIGHT to request that the Lemon Law Complaint be sent by Registered Mail.

In fact, purusant to Florida Law, the whole Lemon Law Process was illegal since Florida Statute specifically requires the MANUFACTURER to be the one that receives the Lemon Law Complaint, and does not authorize a "Third Party", such as the Sitel Corporation, to accept the Lemon Law Complaint.

Despite GM now ADMITTING that everything it did with Kidwell in Florida's Lemon Law Process was DISHONEST, and ILLEGAL, which means Kidwell is, and was, entitled to Lemon Law Relief all along, the CEO, and Board of Directors at General Motors has hired, and paid, two massive law firms to harass, and TERRORIZE Disabled Veteran Kidwell, and his family, to SHUT THEM UP!
